The preceding name, Bhaktipriyā, declares that devotion is dear to Śrī Lalitāmbikā. Immediately after it, Bhaktigamyā views the same relationship from the devotee's side: the devotion that is dear to the Goddess is also the means by which the devotee approaches Her. The emphasis here is not on the superiority of a particular external rite, but on the genuine power of devotion in attaining the Goddess.

Bhaktigamyā = bhakti + gamyā. The word bhakti is connected with the verbal root bhaj, whose semantic range includes service, devoted participation, loving attachment and worship. Gamyā, derived from the root gam, means “one who may be reached,” “one who may be attained,” or, in this context, “one who may be directly realised.”

The direct meaning of the name is therefore: “Śrī Lalitāmbikā who is attained through devotion.” The idea of “reaching” need not imply travelling across a physical distance. Since the Goddess is all-pervading, attainment here signifies the disclosure, experience or realisation of Her presence for the devotee.

In the Saubhāgyabhāskara, Bhāskararāya Makhin explains devotion in this group of names as being of two kinds: mukhyā, primary devotion, and gauṇī, secondary devotion. Primary devotion is presented as a particular movement of the mind consisting in loving attachment directed towards the Lord, while secondary devotion takes the form of service. Remembrance, praise and other forms of devotion belong within this wider field. The significance of this distinction is that devotion is not confined to ritual activity; the inward movement of loving attachment is central.

On Bhaktigamyā, his explanation is especially clear: “bhaktyā saṃrādhanena gamyā pratyakṣā”, meaning that through devoted worship the Goddess becomes accessible and directly realised. He then draws on Upaniṣadic, Yogic and Bhagavad Gītā authorities and does not restrict this accessibility to mere nearness. In his interpretation, gamyā may also be understood as prāpyā, “attainable,” so that devotion extends from direct realisation of the Divine to the highest attainment.

Meaning: Through devoted and wholehearted worship She is attained, that is, She becomes directly realisable to the devotee. This succinctly expresses the direct sense of Bhaktigamyā in the Saubhāgyabhāskara.

Bhāskararāya's distinction between primary and secondary devotion is particularly useful for understanding this name. It is incomplete to regard the devotion that leads to the Goddess merely as emotional fervour, just as it is incomplete to reduce it to external worship. Loving attachment to the Divine is its inward aspect, while reverential service may be its outward expression. Both are centred on the Goddess. Devotion can therefore become an integrated orientation of mind, speech and action towards Her.

For this reason, Bhaktigamyā does not make social position, learning, wealth or the capacity for elaborate ritual an indispensable prerequisite for attaining the Goddess. The name places its emphasis upon bhakti itself. Scripturally grounded practice has its proper place, but in this name the decisive movement towards the Goddess is the devotee's loving and surrendered orientation of heart.

In Bhāskararāya's interpretation, the meaning of gamyā becomes notably comprehensive. He first speaks of the Goddess becoming “directly manifest” and then also accepts the sense of “that which is attained.” It is therefore insufficient to reduce Bhaktigamyā to the statement that the Goddess may be worshipped with devotion. More fully, devotion leads the aspirant to a condition in which the Goddess is no longer merely something heard about or conceived, but becomes the object of realisation and ultimately the ground of the highest attainment.

In this context the Saubhāgyabhāskara also recalls the well-known declaration of the Bhagavad Gītā that through undivided devotion the Divine may be known in truth, seen and entered into. Bhāskararāya especially understands “to enter” in relation to liberation characterised by the state of Brahman. His reading therefore allows Bhaktigamyā to extend from the first movement of devotion all the way to the attainment of the supreme Reality.

From the standpoint of contemplation, this name offers an important indication: knowledge and devotion need not be treated as necessarily opposing paths. Bhāskararāya himself speaks under this name of the Goddess becoming directly realised and ultimately attained through devotion. Loving attachment to Śrī Lalitāmbikā therefore need not draw the aspirant away from knowledge of Reality; when purified, that very devotion can deepen inwardness, steadiness and receptivity to truth.

A further distinction is worth preserving. Bhaktigamyā does not say that a human being compels the Supreme Goddess through emotional force. That distinctive idea belongs to the following name, Bhaktivaśyā. The centre of the present name is simpler: devotion is the way through which the Goddess becomes attainable. Preserving this sequential distinction allows each name to retain its own meaning and beauty.

For the aspirant, Bhaktigamyā is more a direction than a promise. If one seeks the Goddess, devotion should gradually become a stable orientation of life rather than an emotion reserved for particular occasions. Whether through remembrance, praise, service, scriptural study or silent prayer, the inner movement should be towards the Goddess. The value of outward practice is strengthened by this inward sincerity.

The prayer inspired by this name may be simple: “O Śrī Lalitāmbikā, free my devotion from display, restless expectation of results and instability, and make it steady towards Your feet. Grant me a love in which even the desire to attain You is gradually purified into love for You.” Such an attitude allows the meaning of Bhaktigamyā to take a humble and living form in the aspirant's life.

Bhaktigamyā is Śrī Lalitāmbikā who is accessible, directly realisable and attainable through devotion. In Bhāskararāya's interpretation, devotion embraces both loving attachment to the Divine and reverential service; as it matures, it opens the way to the realisation and highest attainment of the Goddess. The simple surrendered appeal of the Saundaryalaharī offers a poetic parallel to the same truth: the distance to the Goddess is not outward, but one that opens within the devotee through love.
